New App, GlueStick, Makes Family Creativity Simple and Fun

Saint Anthony, MN — July 1, 2025 — A new app is changing the way families create together. GlueStick, now available on iOS and web, helps busy parents turn everyday household items into meaningful, hands-on projects for kids. No prep, no stress required.

Designed by Minneapolis-based founder Abby Allen, a mom and former Google Engineer and startup Product Manager, GlueStick was born out of the desire to make creative time with kids more accessible and less overwhelming. Her founding story is one many parents can relate to: “I built GlueStick because I wanted an easy way to spark joy and learning with my daughter without scrolling through endless ads or buying more stuff.”

The GlueStick app features over 100 ad-free, age-appropriate tutorials that encompass classic paper crafts, science experiments, and recycled art projects—all designed to support a child’s entire creative journey, from setup to clean-up.

Unlike traditional craft kits or online project libraries, GlueStick takes a uniquely holistic approach. While kits offer convenience and tutorials provide inspiration, they often fall short in helping families navigate the full creative process, especially with young kids. GlueStick bridges that gap by guiding children from setup to clean-up, making it easier for families to create together without the prep work or post-project mess.

From the moment they open the app, even pre-readers can confidently explore projects through GlueStick’s whimsical Town map interface, which was built to help young makers find inspiration without needing to spell or search. The Supply Cupboard feature allows families to photograph their existing materials and instantly discover matching projects. Meanwhile, the Imagination Station’s animated train delivers curated project ideas based on available supplies.

Each project includes an animated scavenger hunt to help kids gather materials step-by-step, followed by visual, first-grade-level instructions that guide them through the activity. When it’s time to clean up, built-in tools turn tidying into a game— rewarding kids with unlockable avatars for their effort. GlueStick also features a private, kid-safe art gallery where families can save and share finished creations while leaving the fridge clutter-free.

From its playful design to its practical tools, GlueStick empowers kids to take ownership of the entire creative process while giving caregivers a little more breathing room.

GlueStick is free to try for two weeks, with subscription plans starting at $9.99/month or $79.99/year. GlueStick is committed to supporting our broader communities and will launch a school fundraiser program this fall. Participating schools will earn up to $20 per subscription sold to support educational programs and resources.  Schools interested in piloting this program can apply at https://gluestick.app/school-fundraisers

Already praised by parents and early childhood educators, GlueStick was a semifinalist in the 2024 MN Cup (Education division) and is a graduate of Elevate Hennepin’s CEO Start program.

GlueStick is now available for download on iPhone® and iPad® in the App Store, with Android support coming soon. Families can also access GlueStick directly via web browser at gluestick.app.
